Native Games in Luzon

Karera ng bao ng Sangko

          This was a game played with the use of bao or coconut shell. This game is a race were players step on the bao holding the rope connected to the bao and then hops.  Karera ng Bao originalized in Luzon were children searches for games to be played.

Luksong Tinik

         This game is usually played by boys and girls with age ranging 7 to 12 years old. This game is played at the backyard where there are grasses so that players, if ever accidentally fell, will not get serious injury. Two players, the ‘taya’, face each other with their hands and feet stacks. Their hands gradually increases in height as other players successfully hop in it. The one who touches any part of the body of the taya, then he will be the taya.


Native Games in Visayas

 Trumpo


            This individual game is played usually by boys of any age. A trumpo is a wood that is formed like a water drop with a nail at the bottom. This is played with the help of a rope. The rope is being wrapped in the trumpo starting from the intersection of wood and nail up to the half of the wood.
When playing the said game, you must be on a flat surface so that the trumpo will turn as expected. In this game, the player with the longest life span of turns will be the winner.

Palosebo
          Palosebo is commonly played in rural areas usually during every fiesta. The game is about trying to get a flag or money at the top of a high polished bamboo, planted on the ground, with grease on it. It is usually played individually but can also be played by group. Before, it is only played by boys, but now, girls also tries to win this game.



Native Games inMindanao 

Sungka

         This game is played children or even adult. This game which originated in Mindanao, is now a game which is played all over the country and even in the South East Asia region. The game is played in a wooden pea-pod shaped board with seven small holes. The players puts stone in every hole one at a time until there is nothing to be distributed.
